Main active ingredients of Primatene are ephedrine and guaifenesin. Guaifenesin works mainly as expectorant and ephedrine as bronchodilator. Bronchodilator helps to widen the airways in the lungs to treat asthma and allergy. It widens the bronchioles and increases the flow of air improving breathing.
